Planetary reduction units

Superior quality axles.

BCS isodiametric tractors are equipped with planetary type end reduction units on the wheels.

This technical choice was determined by the need to keep the tractor’s wheelbase as small as possible, increasing manoeuvrability, as well as enhancing traction, reliability and prestige thanks to a mechanism that is more powerful and advanced than the simple, old-fashioned bull-gear units.

The operation of the planetary reduction units is in fact based on a special gearing system that allows high efficiency in a compact space.

Planetary reduction units on the front and rear axles increase the torque transmitted to the four wheels to enable the tractor to move over difficult terrain characterised by mud, sand or major differences in altitude.

By better distributing the mechanical loads, thanks to the three planetary gears rotating on themselves around the central gear, stresses on the transmission and gearbox gears are also reduced.

Advantages over bull-gear units.

Compactness:

Planetary reduction units offer a high reduction ratio in a small space due to the planetary gear arrangement.

Load distribution:

Torque is distributed among several planetary gears, reducing wear and increasing load capacity.

Higher efficiency:

Efficiency is generally higher with less energy dissipation than with bull-gear units.

Reduced weight:

For the same performance, a planetary reduction unit tends to be lighter.

Quiet operation:

Due to the load distribution, operation is often quieter than with a bull-gear unit.

Reliability and reduced maintenance:

Due to their robust construction, planetary reduction units require less frequent maintenance.

Compared to bull-gear units, therefore, the planetary reduction units in the BCS range transmit more power and torque in a smaller, lighter system.

Optimal solution for specialised tractors that need to be more compact and lighter than conventional vineyard and orchard tractors.
